A keg riddle

I need some help forecasting how much beer to buy for the end of year party we're working on. I figure a lot of you drink beer, so maybe you'll know! Here's the situation:

Two-hundredish attendees projected, at least fifty of which will be children or non-drinkers, but at least fifty of which will be alcoholics or heavy drinkers.

The Internet says about one hundred and forty cups of beer in a keg.

I will be humiliated if we run out, but I don't want to have way too much because kegs are not cheap and I personally will have to deal with transporting them all to and fro, potentially in a truck that I will have to rent.

So, how many kegs does RB need?

This was Team Traille's prediction:

Given that 20% of the crown will be partiers

.2*200=40
40 partiers will take out 4 kegs
the remaining 160 will take out 3-4

So I would guess 8 kegs. The best place to get this volume is probably Orinda but other local shops are an option. This volume definately reqires a reservation and with 200 people 4 taps minimum. You might want to go with 4 ponies and 6 full size with 6 taps - that way you get the same amount of booze as above but you set up better access.

that seems like way too much to me.

50 nondrinkers = 0
50 alcoholics drinking 12 cups of beer each = 600
100 moderate drinkers drinking 3 cups of beer each = 300 cups of beer

total cups of beer consumed = 900 = 6.5 kegs...whoa! guess i was wrong.

is there a liquor or wine factor?

Have you factored in keg stands, spills, and at kegs people always put their half full beers down and forget where they are.

MBA student 1: our max coefficient on keg drinkers is 1.5 of market asking sale price. what do you think?

MBA student 2: uh, let's ask marketing!

vs.

Law student 1: hey, you wanna get drunk?

Law student 2: is it morning again already?

You could get away with purchasing fewer kegs if you get all Natty Lite. Disgust will outweigh the desire to drink.

How long is the party lasting? You should figure that those with kids won't drink as much because they'll leave sooner.

Will there be some MC Hammer on the juke box?
