Pity Emmy
Everybody Loves Raymond is NOT funny. The show is totally grating and annoying. I can't believe that they gave them best comedy series just because the series ended! That's really the only explanation, since ending Everybody Loves Raymond was obviously the best thing that could have happened to prime-time television.

I agree. That show was annoying. Pretty much every character was annoying and not funny. Sorry dumb brother guy, your dumb sounding voice does not make what you say funny. Sorry rays dad, but your surly wife hating jokes were not funny after 3 episodes. And ma raymond and wife raymond all suck too.
I don't get it, either, but I don't think they won just b/c the series ended. People* really do like that show.
*I'm pretty sure these are the people with whom we in the Bay Area don't have much contact, but come election time, we're painfully reminded of their existence.
I think its the 30 plus circuit that likes this show...the same people who have too many kids and in-laws and live in middle America. Its awful and it has taken over all the random air that re-runs of Simpsons and Friends used to rightfully own. Boo!
Yeah, because Friends was such an AWESOME show.

this also happened to Friends and possibly Frasier too.
I mean, Friends and Frasier also won Emmys just because they were finally stopping. That is, if they won Emmys at all.
